Daily Mail & General Trust has warned of a “volatile and uncertain” future in consumer media as it unveiled a sharp decline in advertising revenues at its regional newspaper division.

Northcliffe Media, which publishes more than 100 regional titles including the Bristol Evening Post, saw advertising revenue fall 9 per cent to £85m in the six months to April – 6 per cent in the first quarter and 12 per cent in the second.
