ITV cautious about tougher outlook

ITV would need to adapt to the threat posed by internet companies such as Google, the broadcaster said, as it reported first-quarter advertising growth in line with expectations, but predicted tougher conditions in the second quarter.
A difficult advertising climate has already struck European free-to-air broadcasters and ITV’s results suggested that its second quarter would be 6 to 8 per cent lower than 2010, UBS analysts said.
